Meet the Spirit – Aribelle

A spirit in the form of a little girl is coming forward.  She is jumping rope and wears a purple and pink dress.  The dress looks formal, like something that someone would wear to a Renaissance Festival.

This young girl has dark brown, almost black hair that reaches just past her ears and a thick set of bangs.  She is jumping rope and singing a song while she does this – like one of those children’s rhymes for jumping rope.

I ask her what her name is and she says it is Aribelle.

I ask her what message she has for us today.  She stops jumping rope and sits down on a tree stump and just sits.  This is a message to pay attention to the world through the eyes of a child.  To look at the world as a child looks at it.

We go about our daily lives spending our time always doing, and going, and taking action.  But how many of us really sit and listen – really pay attention to the world around us?

Aribelle is reminding me of an article I read recently about how we should let our children be bored more and not try to entertain them because being bored is part of childhood.  Well, what about making sure we, as adults, are bored too.  Of allowing boredom to creep in and not trying to fill it – not finding a new show to binge watch or a new book to read – of just letting ourselves be bored.  Think about all the new and creative ideas we could come up with that boredom.
