Meet the Spirit – Norman

A man is sitting in the bleachers of an empty stadium eating nachos – those type that you get at sports stadiums or in movie theaters where there is a plastic container with one section for chips and a smaller section for that yellow cheese. The man looks a little scruffy – stubble on his chin, hair brownish and a little longer and unkempt. His clothes are dirty, brown looking and worn, looking like he has been wearing them for a while. He appears that at first glance he could be a homeless individual – but there he sits just eating his chips and dip looking out at an empty soccer field. 

He says we can call him Norman. 

I ask Norman what is the message he has for us today. Suddenly the soccer field is now filled with players and an intense game is underway. The bleachers are also filled with fans cheering. 

Life is what you make it. It can be an exciting game or it can be a mundane existence. But, when it all comes down to it, it is just really you alone in those bleachers creating what is before you. So, it is up to you to decide if you are going to enjoy the loud noise and activity, or are you just going to enjoy eating your nachos in peace. 

Norman – he prefers the peace – thus he sits in the stands without the crowd and without the players. 

It is your choice – it is up to you to create the world you would like to live in. 

I ask what the nachos represent – he says that he just likes eating nachos.
