As a Logical Empath, one reason that I enjoy reading fiction is to experience the emotions of the characters in the text. I like to feel what they feel. Fiction is an opportunity to see and feel the world from a different perspective.

In NightWind by Sara Kincaid, the reader has the opportunity to feel and experience a world that has many metaphysical components. This alternative world is one in which Mystics have the ability to create a spark, but that spark is dying out. Kingdoms clash and collide and the Mystics, along with NightWind’s lover Eli, have been taken by a rival faction. NightWind, with the help of a few friends, must work her way to Eli and the other Mystics in order to save them and the spark.

Okay, so what did I think of this book…I LOVED it. The world creating is wonderful and you get to experience a kingdom that is dependent on this “spark”. This world reminded me a lot of the rumors of Atlantis, societies that existed in the past and destroyed themselves because of greed. But, there is a twist towards the end that sends this book in a different direction – one where greed may not be the emotion controlling everyone.

This book also does feminism in a powerful and realistic way. The main character, NightWind is strong and independent – but not in a way where she pushes everyone away. Instead, she is able to have longterm relationships with men, both those that are stronger than her and those that she could beat in any fight. The other members of her team defer to her, not because she is a woman, but because they trust her and her skills.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story to take them into another world, to experience and feel those feels for a woman that is full of power and grace.
